At the Old Port of Genoa on 3.6.22 opens the Little Basil Park. An initiative to encourage socialization among children, even fragile ones.
The initiative is born from the collaboration between Pesto per Amore and the Association The Little Port.
Small basil park
At Calata Salumi in the Old Port of Genoa, in front of the Pirate Galleon, children are welcomed in an area reserved for them to learn the art of pesto.
Next to the caravan vintage of 'Pesto per Amore' follow small greenhouses for basil cultivation and benches to engage with pesto and mortar in preparing the famous Genoese sauce.
The inauguration
On the day inaugural, at 4 PM, the project is presented (see video) by Paolo Corvo, director of the Sociology Laboratory at the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, Gloria Camurati Leonardi, general director of the association Il Porto dei Piccoli, and Paolo Silvestri, owner of Pesto per Amore, an authentic brand that preserves the Genoese tradition.
Following are a tasting and the opening of the workshop for the little ones.
‘We thought to put our love for Pesto at the service of Liguria and our little ones, so that children can learn by 'pestle-ing' in our mortars the origins of an ancient recipe.Â
Making pesto, teaching children the secret of the mortar, the beauty of the gesture, ancient, slow, repetitive, is very educational', explains Silvestri.
At the Little Basil Park is also promoted the Smart Chair, the sustainable micromobility project aimed at people with motor disabilities, designed by Égalité onlus.
