Italia Zuccheri, the only 100% Italian sugar producer, proudly renounces the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in beet crops, unlike in neighboring France. The reason for the choice is simple: neonicotinoids cause the extermination of bees, which are protagonists of biodiversity (EFSA,2018).
100% Italian and sustainable sugar
The news – released just as beet sowing begins – confirms Italia Zuccheri’s concrete commitment to sustainability, already demonstrated with the launch of the first Italian organic agriculture sugar.
Production branch of Coprob, the company stands out for sourcing beets from 5 thousand Italian farms.
An entirely Italian supply chain, from which the three 100% sugar lines are born Made in Italy: Nostrano, Nostrano Bio and Semolato.
The plus of organic sugar Made in Italy
The choice to give up seed dressing with neonicotinoids deserves the consumers’ award. Although Italian sugar will have a slightly higher price than that with imported poisons.
The same attention should be given by organic sparkling wine producers who, using Italian organic sugar for the 'prise de mousse', could boast the origin 'Agricoltura Italia' on the label.
Let's save the bees, everyone’s signature is still needed
The decision virtuous of the Italian sugar factory also serves to remind us all of theurgency to put an end to the use of dangerous pesticides in agriculture for health and ecosystems.
We renew so the invitation to participate to the initiative of European citizens 'Save the bees and farmers'.
