Suqqo, startup in vegetable juices starts crowdfunding

Suqqo,  startup from Turin in the production of innovative  juices of fruit and vegetables, seeks partners for business expansion. The search for  partners is carried out through  WeAreStarting, online platform of  crowdfunding.

Suqqo, cold-pressed and treated juices

Suqqo products  are made through processes which – according to the company – best preserve the organoleptic properties of the raw materials used, seasonal fruit and vegetables. Without added water, preservatives, colorants, and sugars. There are two processing phases that Suqqo proposes to stand out in terms of innovation:

– cold pressing, aimed at optimally preserving the properties of vegetables compared to other extraction processes,

– HPP treatment (High Pressure Processing), or 'pascalization', at low temperature, thanks to which it is possible to extend the ‘shelf-life’ of the juices up to 50 days without resorting to pasteurization, which instead causes deterioration of vitamins and alteration of the original taste of fresh vegetables. The Suqqo range offers various series of combinations, whose consumption is proposed at different times of the day. ‘Wake Up’, a mix of pineapple, pear, Fuji apple, ginger, is thus labeled as ‘energizing’. ‘Time Out’, a combination of strawberry, orange, apple, jasmine green tea, is instead proposed as a ‘vitamin boost’. Suqqo, the campaign of  crowdfunding

Suqqo Srl was founded by Edoardo Varetto, diploma in  Mixology in London. The choice to open the company to new investors – through the campaign of  crowdfunding organized by WeAreStarting platform (authorized by Consob since 2014) - it aims to combine the financial operation with marketing.

Valued at one million euros, in the investment proposal, Suqqo intends to raise 210 thousand euros (17.36% of the company shares) through the subscription of shares with a minimum amount of 500 euros. Investment in the startup offers subscribers a 40% tax benefit. It is also possible to choose the mode of registration of the shares on behalf of third parties, through a designated intermediary (the financial company Directa SIM).

The points of sale where to buy or taste Suqqo products currently number about ten (among them, also Eataly).

Notes

(1) High pressure treatments (or hyperbaric treatments) are performed on the packaged product (in the PET bottle, for example). It deactivates bacteria, molds, yeasts, parasites naturally present in foods, without affecting the vitamin content. The Italian agri-food industry is beginning to use this technology. Among the first, the Apulian Masseria Fruttirossi, a primary pomegranate grower that with the brand ‘Lome Super Fruit’ sells pure juice treated with an HPP system purchased in 2018

(2) The  claim nutritional and health claims to be proposed in the commercial information relating to individual products must obviously be verified in light of the NHC regulation (Nutrition & Health Claims, EC reg. 1924/06 and subsequent). Also taking into account the transitional regulation of botanical ingredients (see previous article)
