Excellent Italian craft beer production
Italian craft beer. A production of quality that only involves top-quality ingredients. In Italy, regulations reserve this designation to Italian beer produced by small independent breweries, without using pasteurization and microfiltration processes.
The independent brewery must meet the following essential requirements:
– be legally and economically independent from any other brewery;
– use equipment physically distinct from that of any other brewery;
– not operate under a license to use others' intellectual property rights;
– produce up to 200,000 hectoliters (hl) annually, including the amounts of beer produced on behalf of third parties.
The craft beer sector Made in Italy is experiencing a great boom also in international markets. It is composed of over 700 breweries, recording annual growth above 20%, with a total volume that in 2014 exceeded 450,000 hl and covers about 3% of Italian production. Strong from the creative momentum of the young Italian master brewers has helped consumers better understand the virtues of a beverage often considered just a drink to accompany pizza.
