The tomato Italian high quality is better preserved in glass. The overwhelming superiority of glass food packaging has been confirmed by research from the University of Eastern Piedmont, presented on January 22, 2014 in Rome, during the annual conference of Assovetro.
The study analyzed the impact of packaging on the chemical-physical characteristics of Italian tomato puree. Comparing products packaged in cans, multilayer, and glass, researchers highlighted that the latter better protects vitamins and all the precious antioxidant nutrients naturally present in tomatoes, compared to other containers.
Choosing glass for food is also synonymous with high quality for consumers. Driven by demand, in the first 10 months of 2013 Italian production of glass food bottles and jars increased by 3%.
