Italian organic wine export growing in 2015
The Italian organic wine continues to gain market share internationally. Exports in 2015 showed an increase of nearly 40% compared to 2014, for a total value of 137 million €, out of a total national and foreign business turnover of 205 million €, reports WineMonitor by Nomisma. A success that highlights the high quality of Italian production, with over one third located in Sicily.
Among importing countries, Germany stands out as the leading buyer of Italian organic wine with a 38% share. Here, 5.6% of wine consumption is organic, a volume worth 9 million €. Far behind German demand, the main outlets for Italian organic wine are the United States (15%), Switzerland (9%), Sweden, Canada and Great Britain (6%).
