Italian beer enjoys growing appreciation abroad. The export flow is about two million hectoliters per year (it was 600 thousand 12 years ago), two-thirds directed to Anglo-Saxon markets.
Great Britain, the United States, and Canada are the main destinations, followed by Australia, the Far East, Russia, and even a traditionally beer-loving country like Denmark.
On average, 16% of Italian beer production goes abroad. The entire sector is involved, from the large, medium, to microbreweries. The latter, experiencing very dynamic growth, now number almost 600. They promote worldwide a lesser-known excellence of Made in Italy, but increasingly sought after.
