Blueberry jam, Italian treasure

The blueberry jam is one of the most prized among all the different types of jam. It maximizes the relationship between Italian culture and territory, telling with an intense and balanced taste, the fresh air of the Alps and Apennines, the uncontaminated natural landscape, the generosity of the undergrowth.

Blueberry, a food known since antiquity and exalted starting from the Middle Ages. In the Middle Ages, its characteristic peculiar virtues began to emerge, confirmed today by studies on its high contents of Vitamins A, C and B, organic acids and anthocyanins.

Today, monasteries and some companies have the task and art of an absolutely organic Italian production without additives of jam made from black blueberries.

Blueberry jam is an excellent ingredient for various types of desserts (just think of cheesecakes or shortcrust tartlets, even made with buckwheat) and perfectly matches its delicacy with types of soft cheeses or with a strong character, like Puzzone di Moena, Bitto (two IGT from Lombardy and Trentino). The authentic and ancient flavor of this Italian jam enhances its sweetness if accompanied by a slice of brie (even raw milk).
