Brindisi wine, the good red of the south
The Brindisi wine began its spread in Italy since the time of the Greeks. Thanks to the characteristics of the land, the Apulian city has always been renowned for its wines. From here comes the name of an important red wine local one, which earned the denomination of Brindisi DOC in 1979. The regulations establish a presence of negroamaro grape variety equal to or greater than 70%, while the remaining 30% can be made up of Malvasia Nera, Montepulciano, and Sangiovese.
The recent increase in quality level has led the consortium of winemakers producing Brindisi wine to diversify the offering. With the Brindisi DOC indication, in fact, today you can find different types: from white to red, from sparkling to rosé. The Brindisi DOC label also includes specifications on the varieties used, such as "Negro Amaro" or "Susumaniello".
The ruby red color of Brindisi wine tends to orange after a period of aging. It has a variable intensity and on the nose it appears intense, persistent and somewhat vinous. In the mouth the Brindisi wine is harmonious and velvety, tannic at the right point with a bitter and dry aftertaste. Brindisi Doc is especially ideal to accompany pasta with sauce, fish soups, lamb or cheeses.
