Tomato bruschetta, a symbol of well-being
tomato bruschetta, an ancient recipe still relevant today, capable of enhancing natural ingredients on different types of bread, principles of the Mediterranean diet. The bruschetta recipe is simple, consisting only of bread, garlic, tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, salt and basil.
Bruschetta is an exemplary expression of Mediterranean cultures, able to distill the intense flavor of genuine foods and provide the body with an excellent ration of carbohydrates and proteins, ideal for a snack, as opposed to all the many types of “junk food” often excessive in salts, fats and sugars.
Indeed, the project sponsored by Expo 2015 “Bruschetta or snack?” involved the students of the Don Maraziti Institute in Marcellinara (CZ) with the aim of educating them to a healthy diet. It is a strong initiative in “rising to the challenge launched by the European Parliament, which considers healthy eating and proper education a priority” comments Paolo De Castro, coordinator of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development at the European Parliament.
The goal, as reported from Brussels, is to allocate increasingly more resources to programs promoting healthy and sustainable eating habits.
