Wheat battle, Granoro with the farmers
In the Wheat battle, Granoro stands with the farmers. “It is possible to produce quality pasta with 100% Italian wheat,” recalls the Corato, Puglia pasta factory, which since 2012 with the “Dedicato” line has produced 100% Apulian pasta.
Committed to supporting the supply chain and local farmers by producing quality zero-kilometer wheat and pasta, the company emphasizes that in just four years production has increased from about 300 tons of durum wheat to the current 8,000.
The supply chain agreement between Granoro and the farmers provides for the supply of quality durum wheat (the protein content of Dedicato wheat averages 14%-14.5%, guaranteed 100% origin from Puglia, with a definitely remunerative price for agricultural businesses, including a minimum guaranteed price plus bonuses linked to two grain quality levels).
In the Wheat battle, Granoro points the way out in a new integration model related to the Italian production of quality wheat. Institutions, for their part, should promote supply chain integration and facilitate the placement of supply chain products in mass retail so that the “virtuous” path completes to the consumer.
