Its 28th Member

Croatia will be the 28th European Union member state as of July 1st. Agricultural production is an important part of the country’s economy, but efficiency is far off above all due to fragmented company structures, leading to the need for Croatia to import foodstuffs. As for international trade with the EU in the food and agriculture sector, Europe has accepted to initially keep measures in place to favour the revitalisation of Zagreb’s economic framework. Croatia’s primary food products for export across the continent are sugar, grain, as well as processed meat and vegetable products. Top imports are fruit, nuts, meat and cheese, that according to the European Commission brought some 485 million euros to the coffers of European companies between 2008 and 2010.
