According to Ansa, despite contracting internal demand in Italy, the food industry has become the real motor behind the country’s exports.
Exports are being primarily driven by demand coming from outside the EU, though these markets account for less than a third of what is shipped beyond Italian borders.
Data from Istat regarding the Italian food industry for the first 5 months of 2012 points to a 4.2% increase in the value of exports year on year, with the possibility, according to Ismea, of a deceleration in exports for the second half of the year (+3.9%).
The food industry in Italy, which so represents the flagship of what is out there on the international market in terms of quality, can and must be considered as an enormous opportunity for success throughout the world.
