From Production to Consumption

Among the various human activities contributing to changes across the planet, sustainability in food production and consumption can be said to hold a key role. Food sustainability is nothing more than the combination of choices that people are able to make in an effort to limit environmental impact, as well as protect the rights of those individuals whose livelihoods depend so closely on these natural resources.

Food is not sustainable if anywhere along the value chain, from raising livestock and cultivation, to production and distribution to consumers, the effects on the environment or people’s rights are ignored. These important issues pass from pollution and energy consumption, to child labour, worker’s rights and the protection of health for everyone involved.

Sustainability in the food industry is indeed the future, and GIFT aims to keep the pulse of the positive decisions that will deliver a better tomorrow through an efficient and industrious present. The choices are all of ours.
