Food Export to China, A New Path

GIFT met with the Shaanxi Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 10, 2014, to present a selection of top Italian food producers and winemakers for export. The meeting was held at the Rome offices of De Simone & Partners, specialists in the protection of industrial property internationally, with the Camera di Commercio Italo Cinese.

The Chairman of the committee, Su Zhi, highlighted the huge opportunities in this area of China, famous for the uncovering of the terracotta soldiers. The province, with Xi’an as its capital, hosts some 80 million tourists annually and organizes the Western International Wine Trade Center. The third edition will take place May 24-25 of this year.

The Italian outfits – including Cooperativa 5 Terre, Aretima, Cantina Briziarelli, Rex Romae and Biscotti Gentilini – provided tastings of their excellent products before beginning trade negotiations. The Shaanxi organization, in addition to consolidating the demand of its 300 members, makes a wide range of services for imports, logistics and distribution available for the Made in Italy label in the shared interest of building a solid partnership for trade for a number of food and beverage items.
