Renewable Packaging

Tetra Pak is ready to launch its LightCap 30, a cap produced from renewable resources obtained from sugarcane, which are transformed into high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The procedure starts with the breaking down of the canes, their fermentation and distillation in order to create ethanol. From here, it is reduced into ethylene, that once polymerised becomes polyethylene.
With the new LightCap 30, the global leader in solutions for treating food packaging has taken another innovative step in the field of sustainability and the environment. In this way it is also moving closer to the objective of sustainable packaging, created only through the use of renewable materials, reducing environmental impact to an absolute minimum, as well as bringing waste materials to down to zero.
TINE, the Norway-based cheese and dairy company is the first European enterprise to employ LightCap30 to package its beverages is the Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge.
