Italian food enterprises and Olympic athletes are preparing for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi February 7 to 23 and the successive Paralympic Games March 7 to 16. As a global audience turns to Russia for the world’s most important winter sports event, Casa Italia will be present to offer a collection of excellence ‘Made in Italy’ as a bridge to a country in which Italian products receive increasing appreciation.
According to online sector journal Distribuzione Moderna, between January and July 2013 Italian food exports to Russia reached a value of 338mln euros, up 6.8% compared to the same period of 2012. Wine in particular stood out in the data as the primary export product worth a total of 53mln, 10.3% more than the year before.
