Zero tolerance on dietary supplements Made in USA that claim to reduce fat, but threaten the health of the athletes that take them. Britain’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) sounded the alarm after discovering an illegal drug in a fat reducer produced in California by iForce Nutrition.
The Dutch Food and Consumer Products Safety Authority (NVWA) has also ordered a stop to online sales of Dexaprine, another fat reducer that has entered markets in Europe. After taking the product, a dozen or so consumers were taken to hospital for treatment, some with serious cardiac reactions.
Finally, the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA) – the association that represents all of Europe’s producers of dietary supplements for athletes – expressed its satisfaction over the strict vigilance seen in the UK and Holland over the matter.
