The 2013 edition of the Gluten Free Expo, the international exhibition dedicated to no gluten food products that was held in the Italian city of Brescia from November 15th to 18th was marked by growth. The highly focused event, the first in Europe exclusively for these foods, saw an increase of 33% in the number of visitors compared to the year before.
According to Distribuzione Moderna, the event attracted some 8,400 people from all over the world. There was also a parallel jump in numbers for exhibitors (+45%) with 80 companies present representing a total of more than 100 brands.
The second annual expo included meetings to boost Celiac disease awareness. Mini-events exploring medicine and health alternated among cooking classes and workshops for children. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Lombardy branch of the non-profit AIC, Spedali Civili medical center, universities and FederFarma to name a few.
