Franciacorta Sparkling Wine, The Words for Italian Bubbly
Franciacorta sparkling wine is a DOCG product of excellence. Production of this Italian sparkling wine is characterized by a second bottled fermentation, which lasts for no less than a year and a half to perfect its extraordinary characteristics. Franciacorta is made using the Chardonnay and/or Pinot nero grape varieties, and the use of the bianco is limited to a maximum level of 50%.
Franciacorta sparkling wine originates in the hilly area of the same name located about 100 kilometers from Milan in northern Italy. It is nestled between the city of Brescia and the southern edge of Lake Iseo, and offers superb conditions for vine cultivation and winemaking.
Unique traits are present in Franciacorta that make it sought after the world over. It is straw yellow in color with green, or golden hues, has persistent perlage, and a bouquet with elements peculiar to bottle fermenting, offering notes of bread crusts, enriched yeasts, delicate citrus and dried fruit and nuts, such as almonds, hazelnuts and white figs.
It is full-flavored, fresh, refined and harmonious. In addition, it cannot be sent to market before 25 months have passed since harvest, with constant pressure at 5-6 atmospheres. If you haven’t tasted it, now is the time.
