The mission of Eco-Prowine is to make tools for evaluating the entire lifecycle of a bottle of wine available to winemakers in order to reduce environmental impact and stimulate sustainable processes throughout the sector. The instrument will address the entire production chain, from harvesting to the cellar, and finally distribution “from the vine to the glass”. A spinoff from the EU’s competitiveness and innovation campaign, Eco-Prowine includes the participation of research institutes and enterprises in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria and Austria. The basic idea of the project is to allow producers to have new, uniform means of analysis that will put the wine sector in the position to reach the highest level of sustainability and efficiency. Europe produces 65% of global wine, mainly in the southern countries. For more, visit Teatro Naturale for a complete report.
