Professional coffee machines, an Italian myth

To prepare a good Italian espresso, blending and roasting are essential, but at the bar counter it is the ones that count professional coffee machines and the skill of the barman in using it. The world market for professional coffee machines - and, of course, cappuccino - is worth 650 million euros.

The first patent of professional coffee machines dates back to 1884, but we can speak of a real industry only from the beginning of the twentieth century. After the war the take off: professional machines depopulated in the bars of the Peninsula accompanying the expansion of consumption of the economic boom.

Faema, founded in 1945, is the symbolic brand of this period and begins a competition with Cimbali that lasts until 1995, when they decide to join forces to bring this national industrial excellence to the world. The Casadio and Hemerson brands also belong to the Group, born in Milan in 1912 from a copper repair shop. It exports about 70% of its production to over 100 countries (the greatest requests from Germany and Great Britain) through a network of 700 direct distributors.
