The Expo 2015 Milan made its first official presentation at the seat of the EU Parliament in Brussels on Jan. 29. Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta was present, along with the heads of various European institutions.
“The European Union is proud that Expo 2015 will take place in Milan,” affirmed the head of the EU Council Herman van Rompuy, while Italy’s PM stressed that the event does not belong to Italy alone, but to “Europe as a whole”. The Chairman of the EU Commission José Manuel Barroso stated himself “confident that Expo 2015 will attract unprecedented visitors and investments, and that the EU is determined to contribute to make it a success.”
The government commissioner for the proceedings, Giuseppe Sala, was also in attendance highlighting the global nature of this universal exposition. Speeches from the mayor of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia, and president of the Region of Lombardy, Roberto Maroni, closed the session.
